I did an independent study with Nicholas Hinckfuss, a fellow Industrial Design senior, aiming to understand and develop eyewear designs from drawing into functioning models. We experimented with sautering and various tooling machinery to get a double folding pair of glasses. We did research by sending surveys to understand the issues that people find with their eyeglasses and sunglasses and by mind mapping glasses to understand the depth and array of purposes they serve and environments that they are used in. This helped us not only with our designs, but also to understand the life cycle of glasses from case to face to pocket to forehead to tucked in your shirt. This is an ongoing project which we are still currently developing.
